Understanding your skin type is essential for proper skincare. There are generally five main skin types: normal, oily, dry, combination, and sensitive. Here are some tips to help you determine which category your skin falls into:
1.Observe Your Skin After Cleansing: Wash your face with a gentle cleanser and leave it bare without any product for about an hour. If your skin feels tight or rough, you likely have dry skin. If it looks shiny, particularly in the T-zone (forehead, nose, and chin), you likely have oily skin. If it’s shiny only in the T-zone but dry on your cheeks, you probably have combination skin. If your skin feels neither too tight nor too oily, it’s normal skin.
2.Use the Blotting Sheet Test: After a few hours of cleansing, press a blotting sheet against your face. If the sheet picks up excess oil from your whole face, it’s a sign of oily skin. If it picks up oil only from certain areas, such as the forehead and nose, you likely have combination skin. If the sheet stays mostly dry, you probably have dry or normal skin.

3.Pay Attention to Sensitivity: If your skin frequently reacts to products or gets red, itchy, or inflamed easily, you may have sensitive skin. Sensitive skin can be tricky as it often overlaps with other skin types.
By understanding how your skin behaves in different conditions, you can choose products that cater to its specific needs. Regular observation and minor tests can help ensure your skincare routine enhances the health and appearance of your skin.
